While at Trinity, Theresa served as a teaching assistant for Shakespeare, Shakespeare on Film, Introduction to Film Studies, and Introduction to Literary Studies courses. She won the school’s John Dando prize for outstanding work in the study of Shakespeare.
Theresa began working at Cheshire Academy immediately after graduating. For the past nine years, she has worked in the school’s one-on-one academic support program and as a philosophy and psychology teacher in the history department. Theresa also covered two sections of IB Math SL in the fall of 2015. Theresa has served as the advisor for the school's environmental organization, the Model United Nations club, and the Connecticut Youth Forum club. She currently serves as the Creativity, Activity, Service Coordinator for the school's International Baccalaureate program. This year Theresa will be teaching AP Literature, and Writing and Composition.
In 2010, Theresa received her state of Connecticut teacher certification for English grades 7-12 through the Department of Education’s Alternate Route to Certification. She earned the Recognition of Excellence award for her performance on the English Content Knowledge Praxis II Exam, answering 97% of the questions correctly. She has earned 800 on the SAT's Critical Reading Section six times, 800 on the Writing section eight times and 800 (0 wrong) on the Math section once. She scored in the 99th percentile on the May 2016 administration of the SAT. She will take the test again in October. She scored a 35 Composite Score on the September 2016 ACT. Theresa believes most tests are highly coachable, and she strives to teach her students the content and strategies that have enabled her to succeed on numerous standardized tests.
Theresa earned a Master of Arts in the Teaching of English from Columbia's Teachers College in May 2016.
